Traktor 2.5 & The Kontrol F1
Native Instruments has announced the next chapter in didgital DJing software and Hardware controllers with Traktor 2.5 and the Kontrol F1 controller. This time around NI is attempting to blur the boundaries between studio production and DJ performance, something Ableton is already doing with Live and the AKAI APC line of controllers. It is true that Ableton Live 8 can currently be synced to Traktor 2 via midi clock, allowing for integrated Traktor / Ableton performance. There is however no denying the appeal of having everything on one screen, being able to switch from tracks to one shots without alternating between programs will undoubtedly have a huge impact on work flow. It would not however be the first time that Traktor implements a good idea that doesn’t necessarily pan out. We all remember the sample decks from the launch of the S4? I guess we will just have to wait until the scheduled May 30th release date to see for ourselves. In the meantime check out the performance video by Shiftee...
